Hello again train experts!
I was wondering if anyone could help me? Would you know if the Bachman EZ track reversing trolley transformer could be used with regular Code 100 track if the wires were modified?
I would like to run a trolley back and forth with automatic reverse on my Christmas layout, but I cannot fit the 18 degree radius EZ track that comes with the set. I would like to use the unit with my own track if possible.
Thanks for your help again, Mark

It's just electricity. There's no reason it won't work with regular track. Are there end bumpers to reverse the polarity? I've never operated one, so I'm not quite sure of what makes it reverse, but there's no reason the transformer won't operate on standard track that I know of ( Electronic Tech w/25 years of experience ). Should be ok to use.

That's what I was thinking, but when I look at the individual track pieces, they sell for $23 for two sections, so I thought that maybe there was some kind of special wiring in the track.
The thing is so expensive, I'd hate to buy it and not be able to use it.
I imagine the control unit is all I need; cut the connector end off the wire and wire it to regular track with the bumpers at the end, but I just wanted another opinion.
Here is the whole thing...

They call the track that comes with it, "auto reversing EZ track," so I'm wondering if that is a special type of track as opposed to regular track.
They make no mention of insulators in the description, so maybe the track is special track.

After further review, I'd say yes, it's special track. I went to a website and looked at the packaging itself, and it DOES say Auto-reversing on the package, so it is probably wired special for the back-and-forth movement. So it's not just the bumper ends and special power supply. Sorry, looks like you'll need to buy the whole system from what I can see.

Thanks for your input!
That's what I was thinking. I can't use that track because I need to do a custom radius with Flextrack. So, I guess I'll have to try to find some other auto reversing unit somewhere....and quick!
Thanks, Mark

Wasn't there a On30 gauge trolley kit that went forward & backwards for those ceramic Xmas towns? Is that the track for it?

About 10 years back I bought an auto-reversing kit that could be used with standard HO scale track. It came with some kind of circuit board and a pair of light sensors that you placed in between the ties at either end of your track. When the engine got to the end of the track it covered the light sensor and caused the train to switch directions.
I'm not sure if they still make these nowadays...DCC probably killed this kind of thing off. It was expensive too...$60 if IIRC

I actually called a local hobby shop, and they will have some kind of unit in stock next weekend. He said it was about $60.
I'm going to bring some old trains down and maybe we can work a trade!
Thanks for all your input! Mark
