After dinner with my family Thursday I left with my wife and kid for a few days in Scranton...

We stayed here...when we travel we usually stay in "dumps" but when we travel to Scranton we splurge and stay here.

view from our sixth floor room....

The concrete eagles wing partially blocked our view ...are room was almost in front of the clock

We went on the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour...

This is the car that lowers you into the mine

Billy posing next to one of the breaker boys....the tour is interesting but at the same time depressing...coal mining aint for sissies.

Steamtown was our last stop...

We stopped at Steamtown to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train....but first we went into the
Steamtown Mall to see the late Don Clarks "Miniature Memories" which is a huge HO layout that is a model of the Scranton area.

The CP Holiday Train

Aw, too bad. You could have stayed at a lovely Bed-and-breakfast at Schrute Farms.

Would be nice if that band on the cutout car was playing "Canadian Pacific" by George Hamilton IV!

Free advertising and a great song!

(boy, if you didn't think I was in my 50s to remember that one, this would be a dead giveaway clue!)
