Picked this up at the show today. I thought the graphics were interesting.

There was another dealer with a LOT of old time reefers with all sorts of advertising slogans that I'd never seen, but he wanted $8 a piece and I didn't have a whole lot to spare. The beer cars were even higher, at $20-25 each.

Hey Ken:
Like the Accurail stuff except for the stirrup step which as with many HO rollling stock units is way out of scale to provide a degree of robustness....

Gareth, methinks you protest to much ,its a toy,i do not waste time counting rivets,or in this case get a tape measure out,as i said it looks good and for what i paid would not expect better,i do not want to have a heart attack every time it de-rails,if it was brass i would expect better, when they do break i make a new set from scale brass or plastic, but only then ken ps get posting then i can pull yours apart

Really.
I'm not an overt rivet-counter despite your suggestion. It was an observation. With Tyco there is no real pretense about scale accuracy, but with accurail there is. That was kinda my point. I think somewhere I have the same unit, weathered almost exactly the same.
Sorry I'll get some pics up for you to hammer if it will make you feel batter!
I think you're right about fragility. I mean who is going to handle a Rapido freight car!? Compromise I guess between runners and shelf Queens....

Genuine Made in America TYCO 50' Burlington Northern Boxcar.
How rare is that! Okay, not so rare... but Tyco to a T, I'm sure you'll agree! Apart from the bits that aren't Tyco, of course, like the wheels and couplers. But that's of no consequence because this marks my official entry into the Tyco owners club and what better way than with a BN boxcar? Sure to impress the ladies.

my car(s) for display
first one is an athearn 50 foot double door currently a former southern pacific"paint out" still haven't figured on what short line it will be "sold" to

second one is the same type of double door dropped down to a 40 foot copper service car for SP ( think we need a kitbash of the week? concensus?) SP was the only one to order these cars to haul copper ingots out of the southwest.

last photo shows the top cut on the roof...a scale 10 feet (give or take a few inches) was removed
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader
