i thought i knew most of this companies locos,but came across this a great northern gp7,seller says the roundhouse box came with it,and is stamped as such,my question is did roundhouse ever make a gp7,if so were they any good ken

No Pic or link but the only two diesels I'm aware of by MDC/RH are the old 60T Box Cab and the RS3 now redone by Athearn.
Had a look Ken, Impossible for me to tell from the pics, but it it fits in that box at all it's not original. Generally companies leave more space at the end of their boxes to protect the contents.
Handsome unit though, the empire builder scheme. Their Steam scheme the Glacier one is also a knockout.

my thought were athearn,on the gp7,marklins old and new fluctuate,but hard to find a cheap one,in good nick less than £50 ken

Ken,
I looked at my Athearn GP7 which is on a Hi-F drive. Course that doesn't mean it's from then actually..
But it looks like my Athearn shell. The battery boxes(?) under the cab had small see through "vents" but I can't make those out on the photo, even blown up.
