Here is one I cant figure out. Do just the large wheels on the outside ends do all the work. Or do the three sets in the middle drive this loco.

I think the inner rods are for brake pads, I see what looks like brakes on the outside of the front and rear small wheels, and it pivots in the middle to actuate it. So, I'd say the large wheels drive it, and the smaller ones have the brakes on them. Mechanical brakes.

Frank, it was a Belgian triple boiler loco. It had a bad attitude to go along with its looks.

Not too sure about the larger steam locos, as the mechanical efficiency of them was nearing a brick wall by the early 1950s, but some of the diesels could have been credible, if they made some economic sense. As far as the fanciful ones- the critters- well, they look like Harry Potter stuff!
