I had this given to me for this project and finally started it last Sunday. When you chop the nose it causes a clearance problem with the motor, I guess that means I'll be looking for a new frame. There's a nice article in an old "Mainline Modeler" that does this with an Atlas shell, I probably won't go to those lengths.

I'll look forward to seeing your progress on this. I've always wanted one, but I've only ever seen higher-end models. That's been one of my favorites since my brother had an N scale version way back when.

Sweet AF!! You can really see how long the shorthood is. The hi hood does hide the length. How did you do the cab front?
Can you switch the trucks? Maybe moving the powered truck to the rear would give more room?
