My Custom made Christmas train i made is getting ready to roll for public display in Charlotte NC at the 44th Southern Christmas Show on THe Metrolina Model Railroad layout which is very huge and draws thousands of visitors in this 10 day Christmas themed village where people buy everything Christmas related. When i made this Glitter coated train in fall of 09 - The response was amazing from people. This year, i added 36 L.E.D. lights to the boxcars which are battery powered and have a mini slide switch for on and off. I will have video hopefully edited by sunday if i have time - I will be there from 10 am to 9 pm tonight at the former Charlotte Merchandising Mart which is now called 'The Park". - Well - off now to get the Christmas cheer and smiles rolling

Those are looking real nice! I really like the multicolored lights on the left rear car. I can't wait to see your video. I may have to put glitter on a couple of cars this year, for the grand kids. Do your original posts back in 09 have the details on how you did them?
Thanks for sharing.

WOW! That's a wonderful enhancement Brian, and I bet it works especially well with your glittery cars too.
I did nearly the exact same thing 3 years ago to one of my own custom cars, except I didn't drill holes and mount them internally. I hadn't yet sold myself on the concept and wanted it to be "reversible" since it was a car I didn't want to remake. The green wire looked like garland to me. But I must say your cars make a convincing case to integrate them.
I hope it was a grand success!

Thank You ALL - The lights really wowed the crowds and made heads turn. I haven't had time as of this post to edit video to put up yet -but will soon. I will post when i do.
Nelson - Yes - Many wanted to buy them and all wanted to know how i got the glitter on the cars -trade secret on that - Been asked that many times - Even if told -there is a technique to the whole process. Wiring the cars with L.E.D.'S takes about 1-2 hrs per car.
Spider J - Thanks buddy - YES = Great success
AlcoFan - Wish you could have been there too
MB = lol
The batteries have held up really well so far - The train ran nearly non stop from 10am until 9pm saturday and sunday from 12 - 6 pm and the lights are still burning bright.
mytyco - No to your question - i will send you a pm though Edited by - Brianstyco on November 13 2011 9:59:21 PM
