I have a constant of Tyco passenger cars. They work great when there are tight curves. The issue that I am having is that axles do not roll as freely as they should. The is producing allot of additional drag that I want to reduce. These are lighted cars. There is a wiper riding on the axle. I have verified that the wiper is not causing much drag by lifting it off of the axle to see if it improved, it did but very slightly.

Micro Mark Makes A Thing That Fits In Like An Axle And You Rotate It And It Makes The Whole For The Axle Bigger, Which Should Help Some.

Unless you're planning on upgrading to new axles that are longer than stock, don't make the holes bigger.
What I do for my Tyco streamliners is put a drop of labelle oil on the tips of the axles. It really helps them roll better. If the cars are 70's era and have wipers, a drop on the axle where the wiper contacts it won't hurt either. I find that generally increases the electrical flow and keeps the cars lit better too.
