Crews have been very busy getting tracks repaired for service - removing debris - clearing brush replacing ties - tie plates and rails in sections. A lot more is still left - RR crossing signals /gates install -ballasting. Patriot Rail is the new owner. The section of line under current restoration begins at the P&N depot in Mt. Holly NC - MY hometown and stops in Lowell NC as rest of line has been restored in a project 2 years ago from Lowell to Gastonia NC. AS of this post - they are currently removing heavy brush and overgrowth from North Belmont to Mt.Holly. Here are few pics i got today after work. These were taken at the Cherry St RR crossing. This post to the Memory of LOOPNHOOK as he and I were conversing about this project before his passing.



The boom truck was removing trees cut down by brush crews. Cherry St crossing - North Belmont / Mt.holly 10-3-11 4:15 pm

Looks like that dumptruck in the background has train wheels fitted to it. I've never seen one like that :P

Cheese - that Ford Dump had over 4 tons of trash collected along the line in just a 5 mile stretch - tv's , lot of tires and rims and other trash - I have some video of truck - will get posted soon
