Need recommendations on how to avoid the little gear on the main shaft of a POWER TORQUE motor to come out and to loose track of the larger gear, because sometimes tha shaft spins but not the gear and sometimes the gear and shaft spins but the gear "pops" a little outside the larger gear track....can I solder? can I glue it? what can i do to maintain the posiblity of cleaning the larger gear area too.... Thanks PS.- perhaps this is not the right forum for this question if Moderator can help. I will appreciate, dont know how to change Forum of a posted message

Hi RIT, and welcome. This is a common problem that has been addressed many times. The best cure is a little super glue or CA. I find Zap to be the best, if you can find that brand. It's sold in most hobby shops, even ones that don't cater to trains. Soak the pinion (that's the small gear) in alcohol to remove oil or grease, and degrease the motor shaft as well. Put the pinion back on, and a small amount of CA where the pinion meets the shaft should be enough to keep it in place. Don't get any in the bearing, of course.

CA glue is your best bet. I have soldered them on, but you have to be super careful not to heat up the plastic where it touches or it will melt it. I have soldered 3 with no problems though. I just flux the shaft and gear, and sand the top of the gear clean and it has worked fine.. Granted I used a 700 watt gun to accomplish this, not an iron. That is why I said you have to be super careful..
