Here is a picture of the very rare Burlington NJ , Boy Scout-O-Rama boxcar. The same seller had 2 of them last week on eBay and I picked both of them up. Im going to keep 1 and the other will be for a worthy trading peice. The 7 years I have been baying I`ve only seen 1 other like this. The whole boxcar is red and they just painted over the red with some cheap white paint ( looks and feels like it may be acrylic piant).

I saw those and wondered about 'em...seems like the seller had dark or poor pics and I didn't pursue any further.

Do you know anything about them? I see the May '78 date, but were they part of a set? Are they real TYCO items or custom made?

Ah the endless joys and surprises of TYCO!!!

I belive they were promo cars made for a " Jamboree " type event for the boyscouts troop in Burlington County NewJersey. They were not part of a set and I have never seen one in the origional box. Im not sure who they were painted by . I know TYCO would do special runs if you ordered so many ,its very possible that the car was painted by TYCO. I would have to say that TYCO did paint them as this was the days before Bev-Bel and other specialty companies .If I recall ,I belive the boyscouts have a model railroading badge which is pretty cool.

So that was you that bested me(michaelsfam5 is my ebay ID). I had a meeting that ran long and didn't get back to my computer until the first auction expired, otherwise you would have paid over $25 for that one too. I only had 1 min and 20 seconds to get to the second listing and bid. Not my best effort of sniping. You got me on another one not to long ago....Ah the big lot with the original Minutemen car. Was that it?

If your interested in unloading,PM me. I will gladly overpay. I am beging construction on the wall display of Tyco, and it pains me greatly to have the gap where the red Minutemen should be proudly displayed.

I am going to put a list of items I would like to have by March1 for my display on the Trading Post very soon. It is a pretty short list at this point.

Congrats on the finds.
