I have three of the Athearn original DD-40. I wanted to add one of the new ones to my fleet until I saw the price. I cannot afford the Geneses locos. No way I can afford that. I with they still made the blue box line of locos and kits. Most all of my diesel fleet are BB.

It sucks that they are going this route, I really liked Athearn until now. My money will never be seen in there pockets anymore, I wish them luck. I am not sure how they plan on selling them at 400 dollars... maybe they sell 100 of them. I am sad to see Athearn take such a downhill turn in the hobby.

Trash=Athearn. Ive Heard Numerous Complaints On Youtube About Their Engines. Some Arent Even Running Right. Ive Seen Some Good Blue Boxes At Shows, And I Swipe Them up By The Tens! I Buy Them Beacuase Of Their Bulletproof Chassis. You Can Get Dummies For About $3 And Powereds For $5! I Normally Get The Crazy Roadnames And Commuter. Yet I Dont Have A Metro North Yet.
