UP did paint the cowl area green on the E8s and others. Some pictures show it faded to a light gray. This is in WV at a historical society where these other pics came from. It does look like a UP yellow though and it is a six axle EMD unit. Thanks for the info. Alco Fan

I have done some searching on the web. There were other road names painting E8s yellow: Chicago & North Western Railroad Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad
Neither of these painted the hoods.
