As mentioned in BOTW I am working on a Casket Factory for my layout. I had an old Forest Lumber Company kit that was from when I was a kid. The mechanical parts were not working well anymore and my new layout has nothing to do with lumber. I decided a kitbash was in order to turn it into a background building.

Check out the photo at this link to see what I started with.

Basically I took the unloading ramp section where the full logs exit the mill and removed it. I then glued it in place next to the main building. I also removed the whole thing from the terrible base. I created the loading dock from a scrap piece cut from something and then added a little overhang by gluing on one of the doors or maybe it was the lift gate from the holding pond. I forget which.

Here's the result.

Here's the view from the back. You can see why it has to be a background building!

Still some work to do. I need to add the Casket Company sign and clean up some details. Sure glad I didn't throw this old model out!

Very creative and looks like an entirely different model.

Heh, nope, didn't even know about that line. Coincidence. That's just the name of my model railroad.
