I couldn't find anything about your mogul, Ken. Just a thread about how Keyser kits weren't easy to build. Interesting that they did an American prototype.

I was wondering why it was a double-ended motor myself. It doesn't look like there's a flywheel.
All the pictures I've found of Keyser kits have parts still on the sprues like yours.

keyser made british outline trains etc,so it could be possible they imported it,a brief history below N & K C Keyser Ltd. Banbury - White Metal Kits -
Keysers were one of the first Companies, as the Model Railway market grew, to identify a demand for models of Locomotives & Rolling Stock of a greater variety than those produced by the three main to Ready to Run' Manufacturers - Hornby, G & R Wrenn & Graham Farish. Keysers designed and commenced producing a range of White Metal Kits for Locomotives & Rolling Stock. These Models were extremely popular as a greater depth of realism and traffic could be brought to any layout - the Rolling Stock particularly as they were easy to assemble, with good metal wheels, and covered a wide range of Railway Companies. With the passage of years and the introduction of Injection Moulding the prime Manufacturers were able to increase the variety of Models and slowly the Sales of kits from Keysers decreased and finally production ceased some 20/25 years ago.

found a little more info on another site, ken The motor is a standard NC Keyser 3 pole motor (mark 2 I think), they are better than the one that superceded it HMP (?) but against modern motors they are not as good. A brass flywheel will add to the performance as would a newer set of gears or gear box. I cannot see any drivers which may be a blessing as the ones with the plastic spokes with the D type axle holes were not very robust.
If your loco is anything like their British ones it will make up into a nice model providing you put a little extra work into it, will benefit from additional details and some of the castings being replaced. Double check the frames as some times they are a little bent out of straight owing to the axle holes being stamped out.
Having said all that I have quite a few that run well with both old and new motors and both type of wheel sets. But I am building & rebuilding some with better chassis, wheels, motor and gears.
Nice loco and quite rare.

Ken I have seen those kits for sale. I always thought, not because of a name, but that they all came out at the same time. All were English made . That they, this one. the NYC hudson, USRA Mikado, Little River 2-4-4-2. Were all made by the same company. As with what I say it is from memory. And about the double shafted motor. I would consider that a gift. A fly wheel would be attached to smooth out stopping a worm drear drive. frank
