New Tyco train owner!
Thursday, August 11, 2011
I just purchased a 1960 Tyco Red Ball Express train set that looks like new. It has no power pack and looks like it has never been used. Any comments or advice?

Enjoy it! :) Power packs are easy to get, although if you wanted a correct vintage one for that set, could be another issue. Anyway, just enjoy the nice set. Don't forget to post a pic of it if you can, we all enjoy vintage Tyco here.

Hey Bobcat! Welcome to the forum. I have 4 or 5 pieces of Tyco and I'm beginning to like it more all the time!

Nice set. Looks MIB, never used. Powerpacks are easy to find. For best performance from your set buy an MRC transformer.

Hey there:
I have a couple of the Tyco powerpacks that need a new home so if you'll pay the shipping one of them is yours....
I'll try to get pics up.
One is the ubiquitous light brass coloured one, and the other is Black with the blue lever.
It is a gorgeous set! Congrats!

That is a nice set!
Be careful of those little stakes on the flat car sides. They break off easy and the sides are very hard to find. The condition of the box, booklet, and cardboard inserts prove that it hasn't been played with much.
A few dabs of grease on the engine gear and that engine should be a nice little runner! I have a set like that and I really enjoy it.
My first set was my mom's old set; very similar to that, but with an F-7 engine. That's what got me hooked on trains.
Have fun, Mark

| There's one just like this on Ebay now--did you decide to sell it, or is it just a similar set? (Aug. 29)
