On Friday Aug 5th 2011 - Severe rains ( over 4 inches+ in less than an hr
) hit here in NC causing massive flash floods. MY dads garage was flooded some due to water pushing under doors. My trains are stored there now. I didn't loose any trains but lost a lot of magazines and other rr paper material i had in boxes on the floor. I spent over 4 hrs washing mud and silt offr of garage floor and then putting my remaining train items into plastic storage tubs that were in boxes off the floor. I found a large stash of my ho vehicles - going to post pictures - This is first box i came across. It may take me while to post all as there are more i don't have here with me right now

Sorry to hear you lost stuff. That's probably the best thing you can do, if you HAVE to store on the floor, put them in plastic containers. paper and water NEVER mix well together.

Most of your diecasts posted are too new for my liking, but I LIKE that grey 1:1 in the flood photo. Is that an old '40's Ford Pickup?

That is a 41-46 Chevy! I like it!

I had this 1946 GMC back in 1989, when I was in high school:

Never did get it on the road.

Wow, you had a PANEL delivery? That is an awesome truck. Don't see the non-window versions that much at that age. What happened to it, get sold? Looked fairly solid, compared to my '55 Chevy Suburban below :

It was complete. I paid ~$1500 for it in 1985 and sold it around 2005 (I think) for $1000. It was complete. I had the entire front clip stored in the back of the truck. It was an awesome truck and was very restore-able. Wish I had the money or skill back when I was in high school to do it. If I had a place to store it, I would still have it.
