I just picked up a Shifter. It has full valve gear and cast metal cab and tender. I was wondering about the date. The box says the number 2970 in it. I am figuring early 50's because the tender has no frame or rails on the top steps and the worm looks like it is metal. it is interesting how this simple little loco has changed over it's lifespan. thanks.

With a cast metal cab, I would think that it is 1950's vintage. Try www.hoseeker.net for definitive information.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.
