Thank you, WKS for your generous contribution of past work. This last year has been complicated, but I do hope to run some more vid in a few months. Always one to give credit where credit is due, the list is LONG, the Jurassic Cattle car was an imitation of the unforgettable Rojos Grande.

I was rummaging around looking for a NH video and found this. The wheel squeaks, grinding gears all of it unplanned and part of running multiple Tycos at once. For a while, the ineffable Tyco Super Tanker, with the handrails-to-nowhere put me into a feeding frenzy for those beauties. I had a lot of fun filming this vid, and the derailment at the end was the perfect punchline and was completely spontaneous.

Ah here it is, "The Snow Bird Roll By." When talking with WKS, I get mad as a hop toad at the unseemly death of one America's great Class Ones, murdered in its sleep by the Interstate Highway System, then thrust into the the new formed Penn Central which brought the whole house of card to the ground.
Filming this, I bought up every 2 for a dollar Tyco boxcar (one of commonest Tyco cars) I could find, plus a few more, creating a string of at least fifty such cars. So heavy and stiff, it required three units powered. When it started up all 24 locomotive wheels struggled for purchase, but it ran.
I like the use of visual puns. The closing shot of a NH SD unit hauling autoracks is in regard to the NH hauling the very instruments of its own demise.
I believe the Snow Bird scheme was applied only to a light fast talgo passenger coach designed to compete with the I-95 eight lane corridor from Boston to NYC, but failed soon after its conception. People were content to sit in their automobiles for endless hours of grid lock, and those who could took the TWA commuter flight, which was famous for not only its frequent schedule, but would roll out an additional aircraft if the other flight was booked solid.

"...Gatsworth Wall...the old canal...a stream train lighting up the night..." it's all here. An episode I built around this lovely tune by the little known "Pogues," an Irish folk music band. The lead singer, Shane MacGowan had a sweet alto and died from meningitis after a tooth replacement surgery as while he was blessed with an extraordinary voice, he was mortified by his badly gapped teeth. A painful loss for all who loved his magical overtures.
