Believe it or not, this started out as a Tyco Expander Layout, the track plan of which was cramped and unreliable, giving way to a John Armstrong conception of the twice around. Dual crossings added a degree of operating interest as dropping one's attention for even a moment could end in collision. Fortunately, this stuff was pretty hardy.
