Not one - but two - Monon operating hoppers:

I attended a train show several weeks ago outside of Pittsburgh, and just now am getting around to posting some stuff.

I picked up what turned out to be another Mantua/Tyco trolley lettered “Broadwayâ€:

I forgot that I just recently got the “Broadway†trolley!  They both have their trolley poles though, so if necessary, I can swap one onto another trolley that needs one.

had this custom made from that tyco Soo Line boxcar

Also this one I KNEW I wasn't crazy when I seen this BAR boxcar that usually has Products on it with POTATOES on it!

think I read why it was changed to Products was there was a potato blight, crop failure or something like that to change it

Also Why do I have 2 Tyco Purina Chugg-Chugg Hi-Cube bopxcars?

Three more Roco quad hoppers:

I already have a Roco B&M, so naturally I needed a second one!
The Norfolk and Western is a new one for me.  I do have a Bachmann lettered N&W though.
The Great Northern is also a new one for me . . . I think . . . I’m not sure . . .

I added to the quad hopper collection.  Here’s the black version of Lionel’s Alaska RR quad:

Yes, that’s a nasty crack in the side.

Here’s a second iteration of a Bachmann in L&N livery:

If I remember correctly, this is a Fleischman:

My first Fleischman.

Bachmann:

I don’t think I have this one already.

AHM:

I don’t think I already have this one either.

….and another Tyco Union Pacific 40ft HiCube:

This is sort of a new tangent — two versions of Tyco’s plug door RailBox:

Silver roof and ends:

Yellow roof and ends:

I got these two because they were available and I happen to already have the later simplified version. So now I have a complete set.

That Missouri Pacific hopper is actually HObbyline. Lionel ended up buying some molds from HObbyline when they went under, and the quad hopper is one of them. Because of this, that black Alaska hopper is nearly identical!

Other things Lionel bought the molds to were the 0-4-0 tank engine, the 0-4-0 W/ slopeback tender (modified to be an 0-6-0, and later a 2-4-2), the ALCo FA diesel, the 10 panel 40 foot gondola (not to be confused with the similar looking Marx 10 panel, the American Flyer 10 panel or Tyco/Mantua 11 panel), the single dome tank car (Lionel added a platform around the dome to make it a chemical tank car), and the 40 foot boxcar (in addition to being used for normal boxcars it was also used for the exploding boxcar & the minuteman car).

I compared the Mopac and Alaska hoppers and they are almost identical.  Lionel added some strengthening to the corner steps, resized the hole for the brake wheel, and made changes to install a different underframe.  But the odd thing is Lionel relocated the mold’s gate from the bottom to the inside, and changed its design.
