I recently acquired a Mantua Big 6 with valve gear installed for cheap as "not running". After lubrication and commutator clean, the motor is working well. But I discovered a previous owner had installed valve gear for an 0-4-0 onto this 0-6-0; it does not fit. I have an 0-4-0 that I could install this on, but the cross head guide has no hanger for the valve gear. So I need to use the cross head guide from the 0-6-0. The 0-6-0 main rod is riveted onto the cross head, and the cross head will not release from the cross head guide - valve gear hanger. I have yet to disassemble the 0-4-0, but anticipate similar problem releasing the cross head from the guide. Where would I find a 0-6-0 length eccentric rod? Should I "force" cross head guide, i.e. bend the guide, until the cross head is free? Should I "pop" the rivet attaching main rod to cross head? I have no replacement rivet; any ideas what I could use instead?

Looking at the instructions for the valve gear kit, you would have to remove the rivet holding the valve gear on to the crosshead (under where the main rod attaches) first, and then twist the crosshead guide off the crosshead. Twist the bottom up, towards the inside. Looking at your photo it seems as the guide will get bent slightly in this process, as it already is from the installation. No clue where to get a replacement rivet, I know my closest model train store has plenty of Mantua parts in storage from before Model Power went under, maybe see if yours has any.
Here is the link to the original instructions, as they might help: https://hoseeker.net/mantuainstructions/mantua754valvegearassembly.jpg
