This was sold by Athearn in 1985 MERRY CHRISTMAS BOXCAR. Believe they sold a NEW YEAR car also. I only have this Christmas Car -They did make these for other years in the 80's. Anyone who has more input on these - feel free to add

Is that actually painted and sold by Athearn, or is is Bev-Bel? Hadn't known Athearn to do their own seasonal commemoratives, so I'm genuinely curious.

That's a nice car Brian. Very subtle and elegant color contrast... and a nice use of the Chessie System font too . I'll have to keep an eye out for one.

BTW the cars you made arrived a couple days ago... they're excellent! Many thanks good sir!

From what I've seen, Tony...the cars are Athearn. Bev-Bel's Christmas cars have BBC in their reporting marks. I'm flipping through old MRs as I type...

Shaygetz - Ahh... you're right of course, I forgot about BevBel's reporting mark traits.... same vein as "MMP" technically being Mantua and not Tyco. I wonder when Athearn stopped doing seasonal cars of their own; I came into the hobby properly not too long after that car was made, but neither saw nor heard of any releases from the 90's on. Of course I probably wasn't paying too much attention, either.

Cute car. Christmas around the corner. I believe some of you are looking for this car to complete your Holiday sets.
