Can't get it out of your head, huh? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrffDM3hHk8
By the way, that ding-ding-ding is actually the drummer (Bev Bevan, he played with Black Sabbath for a little while too ) hitting a fire extinguisher!

Oh my! microbusss, I just looked at your pictures, and your records are in a RCA Videodisc stand! Holy!
I've been looking for Videodiscs for a couple of years now, I can't find them anywhere. I own a few discs, nothing really good, and a low-end model player.
Check it out: /tyco/forum/uploaded/MM 1498/IMG_1469.jpg /tyco/forum/uploaded/MM 1498/IMG_1467.jpg And I made a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_7TF1BTN_8
Please tell me you still have some VideoDiscs!

Right on! Vinyl beats out any digital format for sure.
Oh, and while I don't really care for Slayer, it's still really cool that you found a picture disc!
Actually, I've bought a number of records myself, including 2 more ELO albums. I only need 2 more!
I also bought another copy of Hotel California by the Eagles, because the one I had was in pretty rough shape. Some singles, including Black Betty, The Logical Song, and a few more like that.
I also bought the disco flop that is Doin' That Crazy Thing, a solo project by ELO frontman, Jeff Lynne. It's so umm....interesting? http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=2GBI4Tm8jI0&fmt=18 Hey, I have it on the special 12" disco single!

Hmm, I kinda forgot about this topic...just a couple of updates:
Since I got my driver's license, I've tried to snap a few more pictures of the local CBNS trains, although they seem more elusive than ever now. Also, since I've tried catching some trains more often now, my dad let me borrow his old police scanner to listen in on the conversations between train crews and dispatchers, ya know, all those railroad fellows.
Which leads into the other thing I'm getting into, amateur radio. I don't have a set just yet, but I am in the process of learning Morse Code. I'm finding it tough. Much worse than Binary Code.
Lastly, I thought I would mention that for our final project in the Electrotechnologies course at school, we had to build either an electric motor or generator from common things around the house. Since I love vinyl so much, I decided to build a turntable out of some spare parts and hook my motor up to that. The teacher said I went a little overboard, but it was a neat idea so I got a great mark!
That's about it for now...oh wait, I'm also trying to figure out all the features on my brother's Roland JX-3P synthesizer.

Hey MM1498- neat idea with the scanner. Do you know what frequency/channel they used? I assume it's the same around the country, maybe not. Thanks,

Hey Jacob, there are actually many, many different frequencies used on different railroads. Your best bet is to search for a list of locally used frequencies. You could find a list on the internet, but Radioshack is supposed to carry a list at each store for the area where it's located.
In case you're just curious, the frequency for the CBNS is 161.310 MHz.

I found an interesting website that lists all of the frequencies for the St. Louis area, although I did not see the railroad frequencies. It has all of the air traffic control, fast food, and constuction company frequencies . Here is the website:

Thanks for the help, I guess they don't really have a certain frequency per city. I'll just go down to the tracks and punch in the different ones for each train that goes by and see if I can pick something up Thanks,

Sorry to bring this topic up yet again, but I thought somebody might get a laugh out of this homemade portable 8-track player I made over the summer.

Yes I was feeling a bit...bold...at the time. I've taken it to school and gotten some weird looks from students and teachers alike. And you hear people behind your back making guesses as to what in the heck it is. I've overheard portable television, toaster, VCR...one guy even thought it was a Coleman stove.
Just take a miniature sized tape deck, (it was meant as an add-on for stereos without a built-in player) wire up a couple of 9V batteries in series to the secondary side of the transformer, and then add a tiny guitar amp on the side, to act as a speaker and as a headphone amp. Voila!
(Oh, and add a power switch so you don't run household current directly into the batteries!)
The lady I bought the tape deck from was either really shocked to see how young I was, or just really shocked that someone actually bought the thing. In any case, it's an excellent little tape player. And she threw in several, really well taken care of tapes.

NICE!!!

If you keep the drive down as far as it'll go, it doesn't sound half bad. I've found that once the battery is nearly dead, the sound quality turns absolutely horrible. Fresh batteries are a must.
I was going to buy one of these Marshall units...

...but the Fender looks so much cooler!

My sister hates the song from 1972, "American Pie". Several Christmases ago I bought an 8 track tape of that song, wrapped it, and gave it to her for Christmas! I wanted to give he a prank that was totally useless for fun! We ended up giving it back and forth as a Christmas present for several years. I never ever owned an 8 track player. Tapes were what was in when I got drivers license until I bought a CD player for my car when they first come out. At that point, tapes became useless to me.
