My early Japanese stem locomotive with 6 drivers. I bought at the last Carlstadt train show.
I received it as a 0-6-0t. You can tell it needs lead and trailing trucks. Is it a 2-6-0T, or 2-6-2t, a 2-6-4T. It could even be a 4-6-4T. I dont know? It seems to be a mid 1950's to early 1960's made loco. Because of the time period it could have been made powered DC. or AC. It is of all brass construction most likely made in Japan. It's appearance is more a Asian steam than American. It has smoke deflectors also. A odd thing to see on a small American steam locomotive of the turn of the century. As to who was the importer Distributer of this made in Japan locomotive first came me Pacific Pike who had in the line of trains a 2-6-0 tender type early brass steamer of similar size. To this the common suspects are IMP (Intrenational model products), Federal, Far East distributors. The Guild, Even Aristo Craft. Their line before their die cast line was all brass.

Copying my comment here too.
This is almost certainly a model of a Japan National Railways Class C11 2-6-4t, it's missing the leading and trailing trucks. I found a couple examples that look identical to this, made by Kawai models. I don't know who would have imported it to the US though.

Peter you found it. On another site another person posted some info also. JNR C-11. 2-6-4. Your info shows KATO released it I guess in a ho
highly detailed plastic model. Thank you you very much for the posting of your INFO. For me I just go with main rods and side rods and a plastic box overlay for my coal crib.
