I got these last year, not sure of manufacturer or age. The boxcar and stock cars I'm sure are by the same company, not sure on the gondola. They also have these couplers I have never seen before (completely die-cast), any help would be appreciated.

They look like they are probably early MDC when Model Die Casting models were, in fact, all die cast.

Those couplers are also Roundhouse and belong to a time when there was a greater variety of proprietary coupler designs.

Thanks! Sure enough the 1953 catalog on Ho Seeker has these items, all with those couplers.

Looks like your running Marklin. Would love to see some more of that.
Very interesting die cast pieces, never knew of their existence.

I have an assortment of freight cars from that time period (including the MDC stock car) equipped with those Roundhouse couplers. As long as the zinc pest hasn't got to them they work quite well.

Chops, I do have & run Marklin, but I take pictures of my models on this layout for two reasons
1. it has more scenery than just some buildings
2. it's currently not covered in trains, unlike my standard ho layout

Roundhouse made zamac sided metal cars; Varney, Mantua and Athearn made sheet metal sided cars.
The couplers look like Devore with zamac trip pins, year 1950+-; Roundhouse made compatible couplers with brass trip pins; these don't play well with KaDee.
