These two were included in a lot I got, the boom car has a wood chassis, everything else is diecast. The gondola has diecast sides (chassis sides, structural posts) while everything else is wood. If the era helps, the couplers on the items in the lot were Mantua hook & loops, and there was a Silver Streak caboose in there too.

Yea, I have found out craftsman kits aren't really well documented and can be realy tricky to find.

I can't help on brand, but I have a similar car as your first one. Mine is bashed out of a Tyco flat, I think, but the end cabin is the same.

Well, after looking at Ho Seeker for an hour and a half, I finally found them! The boom car/work caboose was made by Red Ball. The gondola is a A-C Models kit that appears to have had its car sides replaced (3 plank originally, now 5 plank)
