Will post pictures after next week but most of what I'm about to mention for trade is mint or close to it. No junk here and some of the hardest to get items. This if off the top of my head for now. Would like to give people time to consider before I put them up on the bay.
Things I will trade: - Tyco Western Pacific GP-20
- Tyco Western Pacific Caboose Mint
-
Tyco Northern Pacific Sharknose Mint SOLD - Tyco Silverama Box car MIB
- Tyco Silverama Gondola
- Tyco Sohio Triple Dome Tanker
- Tyco C&NW GP-20 (Unsure which version, there are 2, both tough ones)
There are more, need to dig.
Things I want: - Tyco Union Pacific Passenger Car Set
- Tyco Chrome Santa Fe Passenger Set
- Tyco Chrome B&O Passenger Set
- Tyco PRR Alco C430
- Tyco Canadiana Shark
- Tyco Silver Streak F9 and Caboose
- Tyco IC Alco C430 Silver/Red version
Anything Tyco and Rare, the list above is off the top of my head.
I'd prefer to trade with other Tyco collectors as we both win. Ebay is always a risk. Will post plenty of pics when I dig out Thanksgiving week.

NYC,
Don't let the Sohio go to eBay without giving me a shot at it. I have one in 'good/fair' condition and would like to trade up.
I only have one of your wish-list items, the Silver Streak caboose in 'very good' condition. Can't help with the Passenger sets or Diesels, but I do have a D&H Super630, a spare RML SD-24 (love the look of the orange and red beasties!), and some less common industrial switchers (RCA, GE - pictured a while back on the forum). Need any parts for Tender-powered 0-8-0/2-8-0 rebuilds?
Also, if you - or others - have interest, I refurb a lot of Tyco & AHM/Rivarossi cranes (clean, re-string, number) with really nice results. Also a lot of bobber cabeese, triple-dome tankers and silver 40' tankers (can't have too much chrome - would really be a sight as a Silver Streak consist). Any interest in a Sante Fe clearance check car? It's both wierd AND useful, and in 'mint' condition, to boot.
I've taken up my share of space. I'll stand back and let others chime in.
By the way, I agree completely; I'll swap things on the forum at cost, before I'll try to scrape a buck on eBay. It's a lot more fun.
Good-evening to you, from Pittsburgh, home of the Allegheny Valley RR, with interchange service to Wheeling Lake Erie, CSX, ad NS. -TKRR

Funny how quickly the Sohio Tanker is spoken for. I was going to ask for it earlier but I have a very nice one. So I thought I would just let it go to someone else... Enjoy TKRR!

Thanks, Walt, although I don't have it locked up.
It's up to NYC to decide what he wants for it in cash or trade. Please offer anything you feel is equitable. That's the best approach for everyone. I don't mind, it's all part of the fun!
Does anyone know how many Sohio tankers were produced? I doubt that Tyco production runs were that carefully documented. I grew up in Ohio and saw plenty of Sohio stations and wish I could remember if they sold the Tyco tankers at some point.

Some nice stuff for offer there. I have to opine the NP Shark is the real gem of the lot... such astounding beauty for a cheap toy train. But I'm afraid I have all your offers, and no longer have spares of your want list (wow, to think I had 3 Canadiana sharks at one time. Them's were the days, long since gone). I've pretty well resigned the snag-and-flip business of late so I won't be obtaining/hoarding known desirables anymore either.
However, you know where my collection is... I might be talked to part/trade with certain things, depending on what else you find. Or an outright purchase is always possible if you are amenable.
I'll say the Silver Streak set is going to be tough. I know of one other caboose, but the F-unit is astoundingly rare. Heck, I've seen more clear Fs, Canuck fish, and even WP 'beese. The one I got was a surprise (and a gift).
Freight cars are the real trick to look for. Always trying to spot new variants... the hunt is a real challenge now.
Good luck!
~~~~~~~~~~
As for the Sohio: it is by far the scarcest but of late I wouldn't call it "rare", as it does turn up with some regularity. Been seeing one every couple weeks of late. But its relative scarcity is rather interesting, I'd love to know the story on that. Just like the Alaska and Yellow BN boxcars, and Quaker cars... it's hard to peg what they were made for, and why so scarce. besides.
Hey TKRR, The Sohio tanker is yours as far as I'm concerned. Since NYC was kind enough to offer these to the forum members, I don't want to grab something I don't really need. I bought a nice Sohio Tanker on Ebay to replace the OK one that I had. One is enough for me right now.
Besides, If I was to ask Todd for the tanker, he would want me to trade him a Bubble Yum piggyback truck for it! And ya know, that's just wrong!
Actually Ben, I'm in good shape on the tripple dome truck wheels. I believe I only have one set that has a tab off of it. In my autobody plastic bumper repair items, I'm almost sure I can find a fix for this broken truck tab repair!
Wow, that generated some conversation, lol. As much as I6'd like to get pics up quickly I can't. I've lost 2 weeks out of the past 6 traveling and I am just now getting caught up at work and home. Phew...
The Sohio tanker. I just snagged one which is mint and the one I've had for years is the one I'm letting go. It's not bad at all but not mint.
Also, to clarify on the C&NW GP-20. I have ONE that I will be letting go. I currently have 3 of these things, I'm keeping one of each version. Will post pics so you know what those are.
To add to the list I believe I have dupes of the following also and they're in great condition. I'm picky so they're good.
- Tyco GT Alco C430
- Tyco True Value Piggyback Flat (2 Trailers)
- Tyco Great Northern Alco C430 (possible, many variants)
- Tyco Great Northern F9
- Tyco Yellow D&H Bridge Line Caboose
As far as other things I might be intersted in, I have a few more. - Tyco ACL Passenger Cars
- Tyco SF Shark
- Tyco Original Washington's Crossing Bicentennial Car
- Tyco Durango Caboose
- Tyco Demonstrator F9 (Clear)
Can't wait for the holiday week I have off for Thanksgiving, I'm really looking forward to diving into the trains again. I need something to dive into these days and just have fun again.
OK- You'll have a shot at it once I get a pic.
The Silver Streak caboose, and I should have clarified it originally for everyone, is the rare red with white lettering, not the common chrome version.
Here's a pic I snagged from the public domain of eBay. The engine that goes with this is identical in design.
You'll be pleased to know that ebay unit has been restored with a new smokestack ;) The loco is the CP-Rail unit with standard 4014 boards (instead of 979) and the SS logo.
Fascinating concept. I adore the disco-era logotype... and did you know Tyco also used that same logo on some nite-glow slot-car sets with chromed cars?
What I would like to know is why they made the train set. If it was inspired by the movie... they could have made the "AMRoad" logo just as easily. Then of course they changed to the chrome 430 we all know and love, but dropped that discoteque logo in the process. Curses!
Sorry, NYC, all I have is the chrome and red version. I don't recall seeing the one that you posted. Maybe we can come up with something else.
Hi Todd,
I am interested in the Silverama cars. I have the Santa Fe chrome set in the set box if you like. I actually have a lot of very hard items to find including the C430 PRR, Three versions of the B&O chrome, Silver streak caboose (all orange), and the Canadiana shark nose. You can call me if you like if you want to talk. send me an email for the number.
Thanks, John
Pat- I'll keep that in mind. I take it that it's an outright purchase and you're not looking to trade for any of the items I listed.
John - Someone PM'd already and we haven't finalized. I'll let you know how that goes. The boxcar is minty but the gondola is missing 2 steps, same side at least. So like I told the other person, I'll throw that one in, look at the deal as for the boxcar. Also have what I believe are the original boxes, they're ok. I will definately post pics. Going to dig out a week from now. I have a second Silverama boxcar that's also minty, so you're in line for that one.
AF-Kid - I think you're the first in line for that piece. Remember I have the caboose also, MIB, it's perfect.
To all, before the end of the night I will get all my emails, pm's and posts coordinated on this before I promise something to the wrong person. I'll then put some names with the items.
Taking another trip to the caverns. This will be my third evening down there. I can only stand for about an hour at a time right now until my knee starts screaming at me. Did a number on the ACL and it's just lingering on forever.
Anyways, I've found about 3/4 of what I set out to find and then some.
I see I need to check my PM's, it's been a few days. Will respond to individuals there.
SOLD
Used but in great condition. Noticed that one sideframe is loose, easy enough to fix for someone. Needs traction tires on that same power truck up front.
This one already spoken for unless buyer decides to change mind. As close to mint as possible I would say. It's all in the body. Runs well, light works.
Used CNW GP20, runs fine. Probably made in 1966, no road number on sides. Could use a good wash. Paint and decals are fine. Full set of rails, horns, number boards and bell intact. Needs a coupler. Only defect I can regarding the body are scratches on the cab, mainly the roof. Please note, my camera just picks up too much stuff, pics don't really do justice in some cases. Somethings I can't even see with the naked eye show up in the pics.
Doesn't get better than this. Members expressed interest but no offers yet, so here's the pics. This is a very very hard piece to get and it's flawless. That's dust on the roof which is invisible to the naked eye, arghh.
Lionel 0349 Turbo Missile Car. 100% complete and it works, cool little piece. See youtube video for the O Scale version in operation. If someone has interest in it I will take it out of the box again, did that about a year ago and I had oh so much fun with that box.
