Yeah I can probably power the loco's and lengthen it by a few feet, and maybe add some structure. Kind of a ANY MRR is better than continuing w/o one and besides I'm gonna be off work for several months so I sure have the time!

I guess a "train puzzle" is a fun thing, if you like playing with trains, and since it is a logistical exercise, could be rather fun to puzzle out the most efficient way to move cargo. Not sure I'd be spending hours doing it, but I've never tried it, either. If you enjoy the challenge, then why not buy it? It's already made.
