Ultimately I'd like two Mikes and three Prairies. Problem is, I don't have very much $ to spend, so that means I'm not really looking for factory-fresh examples - what I'm looking for is repairable-cheap.

Now, of course, if you have a nice, unbuilt TycoKit, that'd be real nice, and if you're3 willing, I'd trade some later stuff I have....

Stuff I Could Trade:

Atlas/Kato RS3. Canadian Pacific "Block" lettering, road #8439, weathered, some CP details added including CP numberboards, separate wire grabs, winterization hatch, exhaust stack extension, correct horn, brand new Atlas separate-brake-cylinder sideframes, and correct RS11 - style fuel tank. It's about 75% correct for an MLW RS3 and makes a great stand-in.

Atlas/Roco and Bachmann Pair o' GP40 Leasers. I started with an Atlas/Roco Santa Fe GP40 and a new-mold but dead Bachmann GP40 (the one that looks like a rip off of the Atlas/Roco).

I stripped the paint off the Atlas shell, and added various detail parts including Cannon extended range dynamic brake doors, Athearn non-functional ditch lights, Detail Associates sun visor, P2K all-weather window on engineer's side, Details West plow and side mounted bell, P2K MU hoses, and McHenry scale size couplers. I painted the shell light grey and added MicroScale decals - yellow frame stripes, white road numbers and AutoStart warning decal, and lease company initials of my own devising. The unit was weathered, handrails painted and added, and upper cab headlight blanked out with a piece of styrene sheet.

I did the same to the Bachmann shell, except that I cut out the cab door on the front of the cab and used a cab door from a junk P2K GP18. I glued it partly-open for a different look.

The Atlas frame was stripped and the trucks rebuilt. I added a new Proto 1000 motor and driveshafts from a parts F3A to replace the old Roco motor. It runs smooth as a new Atlas, and I have a few so I should know. I removed the Bachmann motor and turned it into a dummy. I then mounted both shells on their respective frames.

They are marked with my fictional leasing company's reporting marks (in honor of the Atlas-Roco engine, the reporting marks are ATLX). The Atlas engine sports road number 3004 and the Bachmann 3013, and they make an awesome pair of locomotives.

Yeah, that's what I mean. $80 is kinda steep; I was looking for something in the $25 range.

Or, I'd trade an engine in the $80 range (i.e. something rather nice) for one or two of the engines I have available to trade.

Try ebay. That is a steep price in my opinion! Seems like I saw a Mike this past Friday.

It seams to me you can find something cheaper than $80.
I finally found a 2-8-2 chassis after searching for months. Got a good deal on it to.
I'll keep an Eye out for some more.
