There's an unopened Tyco set advertised at my LHS for $75...I know that's too much for a Tyco set, but because it's a Canadian roadname, could it be worth this price?

Hey Matt. Is this a brown box set or a red box? Also what engine does it have, and is it freight or passenger? Other than pictures, I've never seen a boxed Canadian Tyco set. I wouldn't pay $75 for one, but I suppose some people would. There have been a few unboxed CN passenger sets sell on ebay for $175-225 (this was an engine and 3 cars).

Dunno Cheez, but I get the feeling it will have freight cars, and brown box F-9 loco, with PowerTorque and all!
Just a guess anyway. I'll send an e-mail their way regarding the set.

Wow. Quick reply.
As I suspected:
quote:Hi Matt: The set is a CP Rail F9 freight set. The box is red on the outside with a brown frame around the cellophane. In addition to the diesel there is a caboose, CP Rail blue box car & VGN. hopper. If you need further details I am back here on Tuesday. Thanks Jim Jones |

Brown box then. I've never seen one sell before, but my guess is that it would go pretty high.

Why, for $75, I would open that sucker up and run it until it fries!
No sense in wasting good money on a box...

Hey, I know Jimmy! That set is at Maritime Hobbies in Halifax. Mike and the gang always treat me right.

Yep they're good fellers over there. I just don't know if I would spend $75 on Tyco stuff, used or not.
