Today, I was messing around on the layout and put all of my refrigerator cars in a train to run for a while.
The locomotive is a Bowser H10 Consolidation that has been altered to be more generic than a clearly Pennsy locomotive. It suits my freelance railroad name not to have things to identifiable.
This car doesn't really fit the time period of all the others. It's a Lifelike mechanical refrigerator that was given to me by a salesman for the Canadian Pacific with whom I chatted on a steamboat back in 1978. He sent me the car and a packet of sales materials.

After a few laps around the layout, I took off the anachronistic mechanical refrigerator:

This car is a ROCO imported by AHM and given to me one Christmas, back in the 1970s.

On an earlier Christmas, I got a pair of Train Miniatures refrigerators.

That same Christmas, my brother got this MDC/Roundhouse 3-in-1 kit of refrigerator cars. He moved away, but the cars stayed with the layout.

I picked up this MDC/Roundhouse refrigerator at a swap meet much later. The caboose is also Roundhouse. It has a metal underframe and tracks well. The coupler also works well and stays at the right height dependably. This is sort of the standard caboose for my layout because it works so well.
