I saw the El Paso club layout in a Model Railroader issue from Sep. 1958:

That's a hoot! Never seen that before, and am surprised El Paso got so much as a wink and a nod from the
might MR. The Club was pretty active during the late fifties, as there were no video games and Netflix. They
even had the nerve to hand out fines for running trains on "work nights" and charging a fifty cent admission
during open house.

We are pleased to announce that the National Model Railroad Month will once again be celebrated by an Open House at the El Paso Model Railroad Train House.
Railroad Model and Historical Association of El Paso is open each Sunday in November from 12 to 5.
Join us at this FREE event featuring operating model trains in O, HO. and N scale .
As well as a new addition of LEGO Trains.

Please drop by with family and friends for a fun afternoon for Kids of all ages.

We are located at 6335 Vaughn Court just off Ascarate between Alameda and Delta.

As a special treat we will be raffling a Lionel Ready to Run O Gauge Train Set with an extra track package.
A value of over $400.00.
Tickets will be $5.00 each and the winner will be announced after the last Sunday in November.
Not necessary to be present to win.

This is a free event but we gladly accept donations to help offset our operating expenses.

El Paso train club is like a digital train club but generally with less issues.
While there I tried to accommodate young model railroaders and encourage them to join.
This had its own set of problems.
For example teaching them how to put stuff on the track and fixing broken couplers and stuff.
They were also intensely curious and would often put electrical blocks and turn out settings in disarray.
Which took hours to straighten out after they had left our club.
I did not have the heart to tell them not to be flipping toggles.
But man oh man they created some electrical and routing nightmares.
On our layout that was very big and not at all user friendly.

Now people can throw whatever toggles and switch settings they care to.

Every Sunday in November from 1 to 5.
If you happen to be in the West Texas hinterlands please PM me and bring a train set.
I will get you track time!

This from last weekend is a bit long.
I was fitting in everyone's contribution and did not want to miss anyone.

Week one.

El Paso Model Train Club Open House week two.
We have a strong Mexican contingent so I started this next video with a nod to these fellows.
One of whom was able to help us get a $7500 grant to fix the old roof.
That should keep the place going for a while!

It is a bit long but I needed to include all our member contributions for posterity if nothing else.

Week two.

together to pull it off.
Follows is a short video summary of the day.

Another gem from 2015

First Annual Spring Fling Open House at El Paso Model Railroad and Historical
Association.

6335 Vaughn Court El Paso TX 79924.
March 14th and 15th 2015.

1600 square feet of snorting, smoking, hissing, clanging, chuffing, growling and
sometimes derailing model trains in HO, HO DCC, O, and N.
European layout by special presentation.
By the use of our non profit status and old fashioned hair pulling, foot stomping and gnashing of teeth.
I was able to secure $800 of prime time advertising for $200.

If we can get four new members the ad cost is covered.
First ever commercial ad for this 60 year old club.

Membership up 200% over last year.
