In ancient Rome, a place to exile law breakers, and scum in general, were the Salt Mines of Numidia. Thus, my offering this week, on Layout Henley.

It's the humourous little details that make a layout!

Thank you, Da Cheez, coming from you, that's a big complement. Queensdale, really is one of my very favorite layouts. Whether intended, or not, there is this supreme irony involved in the juxtaposition of the Rocket Era with 19th century technology, baked sunny side up in an unmistakable Canadian oven. Having grown up, many happy years, in Ontario, there is an essence that smacks of Hamilton I knew back in the '60's, starting with that splendid art deco bus station. The perfect green trimmed lawns are also evocative. It all breathes Canada I knew and loved, with a twist of dry wry.
As to the Salt Mines of Numidia, it is an oblique reference to an area of modern day Tunisia, where convicts, and other assorted scum, were sent to be worked to death by Roman magistrates in the turn of the other century, the century that begins around 100 AD and before. While I like to think I enjoy my work, I am sometimes left to feel that I am sentenced to this purgatory in where I can never dig quite enough salt to satisfy the demands of the guy with the whip.
Nessie pops up randomly throughout the video, most notably threatening the Fox Hunters.

How many thousands of Revell engine houses, print shops and bakeries have been sold since that mold came out in the late 50s? Because of their quantities they often show up in junk lots and are great for kit bashing.
Here are some shots of things that were created from several of them.
A two story creation
The narrow end can be a little funky with all arch openings that need some infill.
Combined four of them to make a large engine house or Fogite facility
