Getting a jump start, tomorrow I may be too tired. Having a lot of fun with this vintage Esso
sign that I got in a small pile of bits for $10. It was NIB, and it was almost painful to take it
out of the package, but not doing any good collecting dust. Not like I run a museum. And
the light works!

Enjoying these beautiful custom pieces from Anderson Paint Shops. My favorite band in the
universe, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. Here's a link to one of their videos.

Need Esso sign chops! They were only catalogued one year in the 60s and they’re fairly uncommon today. I have two around my Esso station on the layout and one in the package that I got a bargain on eBay with. Awesome photos!

Thanks, Walt. I believe it was you that put me wise to the value
of the Esso sign. A very lucky score, completely by accident.

Esso is a common gas station in EU
but did you know it came from S.O. aka Standard Oil?

Nice accessories, Chops, and a mighty fine functioning ESSO sign.

2 more Anderson Shops products, made for the Ephrata Valley Railroad. A custom Tyco Camaro for the EVPD, and an EVRR Maintenance-of-Way dump truck.

Canada changed from imperial gallons (about 1.2 US gallons) to liters in 1979. It would be interesting to know when that gas island was made.

I'd say about after 1979
As Texaco used that sign from 1963/1966-1981
early flat porcelain signs had a green T & was changed to white later on
Possibly when the signs went to lit up plastic ones

Cool stuff! Can't beat the old light-up signs, and I love that painted Tyco Camaro!

Back in the 1950s Disneyland had a large rocket ship in the park called the TWA 'Moonliner'. I stumbled across a set of 3D files that someone had made for it and figured it would look good in the parking lot of my gas station. Here it is printed and painted.

That rocket is a perfect match for the futuristic design of the roof over the gas pumps. There's a place I occasionally pass called the Launching Pad Drive In. It has a big statue out front of a guy in a short-sleeved space suit holding a rocket in his hands. I get a kick out of all that futuristic (now retro-futuristic) stuff from the space age.

I looked it up....I love it! Space Age design is such a fun style.

On a similar note, there's a restaurant in Niagara Falls called the Flying Saucer Restaurant that is definitely one of the funkier places I've been.
