In yesterday's mail, was this Kellogg's hopper with the red lettering on the A & B. Not sure why I had wanted this one but I have it now, along with the common one and the AHM hopper of the same...

My COTW is a new arrival as well. It also checks another one off the 'ol 'I needs that one' list.
Here's my Tyco DT&I operating hopper, which I got in a mint set for around thirty bucks. I don't know what it is about this car, but I love the glossy paint job on it. The only pitfall is the coal load in the set was not the gravel load shown on the box. The 'coal' was about the size of a grain of sand, so I just left it in the package. I knew it would've been lost in the carpet in a minute flat. I love the car though.

Funny how that goes, Walt, Cheez. Sometimes you just gotta have it, like this LIFE magazine caboose. Before the internet, LIFE was a really big deal. We pracitically fought over it when it came monthly.
Incidentally, Abraham Lincoln, when a successful up and coming railroad lawyer, had a Daguerrotype stereoscopic viewer for the entertainment of his family and guests. Such views as the Giza Pyramids and other exotic far away lands. This was really HiFi cutting edge technology in the day, but then Lincoln was a bit of a techno geek of his day. He understood and appreciated technology in a manner that was ahead of his time.
