Does anyone know how rare this is and what sort of price it goes for?

There is one on e-bay UK right now, that I would love to get, but with just under a day to go it is already at over 40GBP (around 52 USD) and we all know what can happen as auctions are about the close.....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mehano

From the sound of it, a bidding war is underway that may drive up the cost, but as it sounds, from the
article above, comparable to IHC, its current price is about what they go for on the used market
Stateside. Maybe $60 to $70.

If it is a Brunswick Green Pennsylvania Railroad GG1, then I don't believe that is too uncommon. Anyone else
want to take a dive on this?

Thanks Chops,

Just home from work, had a quick low bid and surprisingly won it! Yay!

£46GBP including Postage. Very happy!

Have a look at this, which I also found: eBay item number: 233187258863

If you or anyone over there wants any I am quite willing to be the intermediary. Having looked up GG1 liveries, I note that the livery shown for the 1776 on the one I have just bought is fictitous, but the one that guy has in Belgim is real!

0 results for 233187258863 is what eBay says. BUT I am looking
forward to pics, and for this unit I think you got a very, very good
price. I have three in different liveries, and they perform quite
well and will accomodate 18 inch curves. Congratulations!! NOW
POST PICS when you get it, dying to see it.

The "G" is my favorite American locomotive, and I got to see
one of the last extant G's under full throttle rolling like silent
thunder down the Northeast Corridor in the late winter of 1975.
It took my breath away.

Sorry Chops and thanks for the encouragement.

Maybe this link will work instead?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MEHANO-IHC-HO-GG-1-ELECTRIC-BRAND-NEW-SHELL-CAISSE-NUE-GG-1-USA-AU-CHOIX/233187258863?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3Df0bbe5170cff4273b1b4ce4a2e5aa608%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D233187258863%26itm%3D233187258863&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

If you still can't see that, a guy in Belgium has multiples of four different new shells for the Mehano GG-1:

Silver Pennsy with red stipe and big logo.

Fictitious white 1776 Pennsy like the one just bought

The 'real' red and blue with stars 1776 Con Rail.

Red bonnet silver Amtrak with blue stripe

All at €5 Euros each which is just under 6 USD

The snag is the P&P which starts at just under 17 Euros, but I am thinking if anyone wnats these then a bulk order could be the way to go...... and I can ask the seller.

Interesting shells, but not my area. Is this what you
managed to get?

If so, you did quite well on that deal. I saw this one as a static display
some years ago, in addition to the live one in 1976 under a CR patch job.

Chops,

Here is the very loco I bought:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mehano-M9666-Gg-1-Spirit-Of-76-livery-HO-loco/273874611483?hash=item3fc432ed1b:g:vMUAAOSwoB9c9UJf <https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mehano-M9666-Gg-1-Spirit-Of-76-livery-HO-loco/273874611483?hash=item3fc432ed1b:g:vMUAAOSwoB9c9UJf>

The images of it can be seen here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mehano-M9666-Gg-1-Spirit-Of-76-livery-HO-loco-/273874611483?hash=item3fc432ed1b%3Ag%3AvMUAAOSwoB9c9UJf&nma=true&si=zN%252Bm9ZkPn6gUHyY3I4eDqRq1cW0%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 <https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mehano-M9666-Gg-1-Spirit-Of-76-livery-HO-loco-/273874611483?hash=item3fc432ed1b%3Ag%3AvMUAAOSwoB9c9UJf&nma=true&si=zN%252Bm9ZkPn6gUHyY3I4eDqRq1cW0%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557>

This is my fourth GG-1. Strangely three of the four I now own are the same as those spare body shells. I guess because they are the common ones? The fourth is Pennsy maroon with mutiple yellow stripes.

Research has shown me that the 1776 livery of my latest one is fictitious, as the real Bicentential livery was red and blue with white stars. This was also only applied to 4800 which was the first GG-1 and known as 'Rivets' due to the unique body contruction style

Interestingly the mechanisms on my existing three are all different, but I look forward to seeing what number four has!
