Hi guys. I recently purchased an Athearn Blue Box SD-40 (in a certain paint scheme). And I am tempted to get another Southern Pacific loco to complement it. The model that I want to purchase is the Ready to Roll Cotton Belt Spirit of 76. The only problem is that I have almost no experience with their Ready to Roll product line. For about $100 it seems like a good buy. Just wondering what your thoughts are on their RTR locomotives and if the quality will be there for $100.

Not much different from blue box. Just a few minor changes. " Heck with counting 'em rivets, TRAINS ARE FOR FUN! Not called the Mad Scientist for nothing either!"

Thats pretty much what I figured. From what I can tell it still looks like they still use the same motor and chassis. The detail does look better. Ill probably order it in a few weeks. Love that paint scheme.

THe biggest diffrence in the drivetrain is that they use dogbone drives which are superior. THe detail is also leaps and bounds better than the bluebox. Besides that, you are basically looking at the same model. If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right.
