Tyco layout from the sixties
Thursday, January 04, 2024

Hello,

Hey I'm looking for information on a layout I received as a Christmas YEARS ago, back in the 1960's. I got a layout with Engine and Cars that had track and scenery all built on semi hard plastic mold. It was about 3 ft by maybe 6 ft. The track was part of the layout, not sure how it was attached, glue possibly. It had a tunnel that the train went through and a hill that a train went over the hill. I believe it had a Santa Fe covered wagon .... not sure maybe an F3. I did see on the net Tyco layouts of the 1970's. I'll leave a link below. The time frame I'm looking for is between 1964 and 1968.

Thanks for any help solving the mysteries of my youth

I remember seeing the 1004 layout at a department store once in early seventies (I think it was A&S ) These layouts were PROBABLY used as displays in toy departments or hobby shops BUT if someone made a decent offer the store just may have sold them to a customer

Caboose Hobbies of Huntington NY had a very nice Marklin Display that was operated by pushing buttons three trains were controlled on two loops it is in private hands now

That's pretty much a stripped down mirror image of what I have now. Add a few switches and a yard off to the side.....

Half the fun is the hunt, Bhess! I hope you find your prize, and when you do, let us know. There
is something magical about this prefab layout you posted.
