I found some of these motors on ebay but save some for me, I still have 5 months to go in the middle east!
funny thing too they are coming from HK....that TECHNICALLY could mean they are Tyco replacement motors :P

just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

Upgrading a PT with a flat can motor. I have done 7 now and no problem with any of them. It means using a grinder on my dremel and making sure you don't take away too much. remove the bushings and line up the motor so the shaft is in the exact place and crazy glue it in place. This way you can us all the gears that came with the old motor. These pictures show a motor for the f2( the block is black) but the steam(block is a copper color) you do the same way.

i've done 7 or 8 myself using the ps3 tray motor & i haven't had any trouble with them at all. i've ran one around an hour solid pulling about 17-18 cars with no ill afects. you just need a good transformer to get low speed out of them.

Ebay and other sites have motors. The PS3 motors seem to be a little wider and flatter, which is good because there's not much room in some locos. That was a problem I ran into with the Tyco GP20.
I've only done 4 locos, so I'm no expert. What I use are CD-ROM motors. A couple years ago, we threw out a bunch of old computers at work. I pulled the CD drive out of all of them and took out the motor. It only takes a few minutes with a screwdriver.
Other sources for motors are things like tape players, CD players, toys, etc. I've only ever had to buy one motor, and I got it from ebay.

As a rule if it spins in a computer it uses 12V. so yeah, most likely.
