Can anyone tell me where I can get new hatch covers for my 40' beer cars. I need 6.

I'm interested in this as well. I've got a few real nice cars with no covers. Hope somebody has a suggestion.

I have both Athearns and the old Roundhouse ones where they are glued flat on the top of the car. I've got a nice Budweiser car that someone has painted four black squares on instead of the hatches.

Of course I may be wrong about gluing them on...this is based on things I've picked up second hand.

Depending on how fussy you are - What I've done for wooden hatches is to get some N scale wooden fence and use it for ice hatches. I'll post a picture later - I'm at work now. It's not perfect - no hinge detail, but it looks better than a painted black square.

I take the car with me to the craft store (Michaels in my case) and with the wide range of colors in the craft paint display I can usually find a good match for the car's roof color to paint them.

N scale wooden fence as hatches

They don't look too good up close and personal, but they look OK when you apply the 3 foot rule.
