One of my now-favorite sellers on Ebay does some volume vinate model train selling, from N thru G. One of the more recent purchases I made was a group of literature , seven pieces, for about $8 total. I've seen some of these old catalogs alone sell for 5-10 dollars apiece ( or listed, anyway ) on "the" auction website. One of these in particular I find very interesting is a catalog for AHC ( America's Hobby Center ) in New York, a 1955 edition. Not a particular manufacturer, but a reseller of all lines and makes of model railroading equipment - I even found 2 pages worth of TT info! SCORE! Just learning some of the names of manufacturers gives me a place to start researching ( and searching online ) for these old vintage products. One section had many of the old Mantua engines, with associated parts lists and part numbers. No diagrams, but having a nice clean viewable list of parts is handy. Mantua engines include the Mikado 2-8-2 , Pacific 4-6-2, Shifter 0-4-0, General 4-4-0, Goat 0-4-0, Little B 0-4-4, Mogul 2-6-0, Belle 4-4-0. I may try to scan some of these and blow them up, but being on coarse, yellowed paper, may not scan well. Future project. Anyway, loads of info on the pieces of the times, like Penn Line, Varney, Roundhouse, Hobbyline, Kemptron, Ambroid, Laconia, Athern (? their spelling), Hobbytown, Walthers, Bowser, and the list goes on. Other catalogs include the 1950 and 1957 Varney, a Varney 4-page foldout ad, a 1954 E & H hobbycraft stores. This should keep my bedtime reading interesting for quite some time! You can learn alot from the past. I intend to.

Yes, HOSeeker has some of these. But not the hobby shop specific catalogs, not that I saw. And I can't take my PC into the "library" for some reading, either. LOL. Some things are just better when you can hold them in your hands.
