I saw a very unique piece fer sale today on my fav website for trains. Its a kit from Mantua to convert a 0-4-0 into a 0-6-0! For $5, I'll be buying it soon. Anybody ever seen this? " Heck with counting 'em rivets, TRAINS ARE FOR FUN! Not called the Mad Scientist for nothing either!"

Also saw a portable uncoupling ramp and a handrail kit for the MDT still new in the bag! " Heck with counting 'em rivets, TRAINS ARE FOR FUN! Not called the Mad Scientist for nothing either!"

The Mantua 0-4-0 is the same as the 0-6-0 except that the lower frame is different along with an extra driver.
Depending on which year and version of either that you have, you can have no brass bearings or brass bearings. Metal cab or plastic. Metal boiler or plastic. Metal slope back tender or plastic. I'd like to see a link to this "kit" you describe. Please post up where you saw it.
Thanks,

For $5 the spare parts are worth it. For the cast boilers the undercarriages can be changed between an 0-4-0 and 0-6-0, I have done it. Allot of the Mantua parts are interchangeable. As to if they made a conversion kit I do not know. There were several aftermarket remotor kits etc. made by companies like Yardbird.
