Tyco Alco C-630 Norfolk Southern

This project started life as a Phase IV Santa Fe that was in great shape. I cannot remember where I picked it up, but it had barely been run; to the point of still having the original grease in the gears. It was cleaned, lubed, tested, and stripped.
I sanded the decals off with 600-grit, sprayed with black primer, then Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black TS-29. This stuff comes out of the can so well that I leave my airbrush alone. The decals are Microscale 87-1225, which is the modern diesel set. I like the horse head inset in the logo, in spite of the fact that any historical accuracy would be lost. (The whole thing is fictitious anyway!).
After decals, the body was sprayed with Model Master Semi-Gloss Clear Lacquer. I think this has a sheen similar to the original Tyco finish. The flats seem just a little too flat. Once reassembled, it was ready to jump in with the rest of the Chessie/NS fleet.

It looks great. I also like the Horse in the logo. Glad to see the 1102 was kept too. Keep up the good work.

I have to say I have no fictitious stuff on my lines. The WLGTM RR runs only things that follow the What Looks Good To Me roster, if it looks good it exist in my world, Tyco only made prototypes for my line. :)
Nice job on the loco. I agree that the Tamiya paints are great.

That is COOL! We had an N&S rail yard in the town I grew up in. Glad to see the 630 in that logo! Nice job!
