From the looks of the diagramrs on hoseeker, the driveshafts are short tubes with notches at the ends for the inputs on the trucks

I have had a lot of success by removing the universal assemblies back to a point where you have the basic metal shaft. Then use an appropriate size piece of vinyl or rubber tubing to connect the two shafts.

I have also used rubber type covering from electrical wire. One of the best types of tubing that I have found is the stuff that is used for urinary catheters. (yes, I wash it first)

Could I get away with using stryene tube that'll fit over the input of the trucks ball? What size would be required?
