since I will most likely be upgrading/restoring a snoot full of tyco engines (well ok probably 6-7) first "evil" project will be a clemintine 2-8-0.

Question is, how big are the drivers and can anyone recommend a replacement (cheap that is)

just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

Hi Ray,
The drivers are the same size as the Choo-Choo. I have a bunch let me know how many you need and I will send them to you. You pay the shipping.

If you have drivers that are close together, then they are the 61" drivers commonly equipped with the Mikado or Berkshire.

If you have drivers that are spaced apart, then they are the 50" drivers used on all the locomotives from the 2-6-2, 0-6-0, and 0-4-0's.

Both sizes are readily available and can be purchased from Model Power or from Dan Bush at Yardbird Trains.
