After leaving a diecast vehicle show in Denver, PA, I spent some time touring north and south of there. One of my goals was to hit a couple antique malls , and I did so in Ephrata, PA. Pronounced F-ra-duh. My wife's GPS won't even TRY to pronounce it...ROFL! Too funny...anyway, at one mall, I found a Snap_tite kit of a Big Boy Union Pacific engine, HO scale, $10. Thought that was reasonable, so I bought it. The vendor also had some Pola Tycokits already done, I picked up a Diner, already assembled and detailed WITH interior, counter, stools, cash register, etc. for only $5. I brought that one home! Wish he'd had an automobile dealership or shop, he actually did, but it was S or O gauge sized. Sigh. I considered it still...but saved my money. He also had a Tyco crossing with the sound device, I think he wanted $12 or 15 for it. Not sure what they sell for. But I know where it is anyway, if/when I go back again. Had a Tyco freight set, UP, for $60, in the original box. Nothing I wanted. That was pretty much it for HO trains, at least at the two malls I hit before heading out of the area for home ahead of the approaching heavy storms. I JUST made it out, too. Had to pull over briefly to wait out a heavy wind and rain downpour, then drove home unhindered just ahead of another squall line coming from the west to the DC area. Now to upload some camera pictures and post them later. :)

EDIT - UPdated 4/17 with pictures

Here's the kit, I was surprised when I got it home and found it already partially asseembled. I only looked at it quickly in the antique store. Looks like all there, and just needs final assembly and detailing. Pretty kool kit!

Not sure if this is a bar or a restaurant or both. DEFINITELY serves alcohol! Just missing streetlamps, I think I can come up with those. Pretty nicely done.

Hey Justin:

I have a friend who works at L-AFB! Small world. For privacy reasons I can't say but she's now a civilian working for the "Wild-Blues" least that what we used to called Yankee AFies when I was in the Army. (Spears were 7.62mm back then. -Ask Ken! )

I'd say those were good finds at decent prices. I've got one of those UP Big Boys, think it was $10
or $12 dollars. Nice diner/bar. I like the booths by the windows.

Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

Say, can anyone spot the problem(s) with this Diner? I took the roof off to check out the interior,I may add some lighting to it...but then I noticed a GLARING assembly defect, , I'm definitely going to have to take this kit apart and redo something. One side is not noticeable in the picture, but the other most definitely IS. Any opinions? See who can spot the defect(s).

You'll need to serve your customers LSD to get in...

Hopefully, the assembler wasn't big on using a lot of glue...

Yes, you spotted THAT in a hurry, Ken! Good eye! The opposite wall you can't see also is upside down, it has 3 windows. And actually, that beveled wall "window"....is a DOOR! This is actually two buildings in one, theres a wall between them , the door on the right only goes to that small side, the Bar is separate from it. What I found interesting, though, is that on the right side , there's actually a door in the wall, cast in, but on the bar side, it's all shelving with no break for a door. A Harry Potter door? Hmm...begs for special treatment on this one. I've already got the big door wall off, took out a slight corner chunk, I'll fix that. here's a few new views of it. Wonder how that magic door works?

Check the drug store kit, looks like they converted it into a bar.

Why, yes, that DOES look like it! Thanks for the link! I guess he built the doorway AFTER he had a few. LOL! That 'door to nowhere' still kills me, though. I'm going to have to Harry Potter THIS kit no doubt.
