I remember seeing ads in the '70's Hot rod mags I used to get (new), and even saw a few 1:1 running around Richmond VA back in day. Never seen a slot car version done, though. Sweet! Pretty cool. I'd bet that VW Truck would look even better with a '57 Chevy rear half. Tri-Beetle!

Well if I can land a decent Super Beetle, I'd like to try making the flatbed... There was a panel van version to back in the day. Notice how discreetly I'm avoiding saying what day!

Nice VWs! I remember an old Rolls Royce version of the VW Beetle and the 40 Ford front end. I love the pre 68 VW 23 window buses, VW Pickups and Beetles. I prefer them in factory original / restored. I'm just a few hundred $$ from paying for the patent of my invention and after I sell a few million of them. I wanna buy the nicest VW 23 window bus I can locate. Must be the red & beige colors!

Hi Walt,
That is one sweet VW bus. My Dad had two at different times when I was a kid. One was white over red and the other was all green. I'm not sure if my dads came before or after the 23 window version. His did not have the windows in the roof line and they did not have windows above the engine area on the sides. We use to take weekend trips to St. Augustine and meet family there. On the way back home, I would sleep over the engine in the back. The combination of engine heat and vibrations knocked me right out. I loved those VW's. My Dad did too.
Thanks for the memories! Mike

Hey Mike! The old VW buses are cool! You were lucky enough to have one to enjoy as a kid! Best I could do as a 16 year old my buddy had a blue Beetle we run around in!
