Hey Frank:

I find the whole concept of elevated trains to be curious and a bit magical somewhow. We have a huge subway system in Toronto, the expense enormous to make new tunnels. I think a very lightweight elevated system makes more sense, but thats just me!

Hey Frank:

They're all electric now though right? I mean it's the subway system? I know one was or is being converted to an elevated park.

That park is the old New York Central freight line down the west side of Manhattan. It was built much latter on than the elevated railway lines.

Hi All,

Very interesting article. Chicago has a lot of abandoned overhead rail lines like this. I think they would make great parks as well. It's interesting to see how areas change and overhead rail lines are added or abandoned. Pictures from above the city show it best. Some lines start in the middle of no where and end in the middle of no where. they even have some buildings built right on the elevated right of way now.

Thanks for sharing.
