I was looking at the inside of some of Tyco's dual-lighted streamliners from the 1960's, and I can't tell how the trucks pick up electricity from the track and send it to the lightbulbs. In Tyco's later streamliners, there is a metal band that contacts the axles, but on my 1960's cars there aren't. Is there something hidden inside the sides of the trucks??

The older cars that I have, have metal trucks that carry the current from the axles to the wires leading to the bulbs.

Vintage HO: The pic u posted isn't the same as the cars I have. Is that one of the Mantua moulds??

Ray: Yes, now that I look at them they are metal. The reason I asked is because some of the lightbulbs are burnt out and I don't know where to get bulbs the same size/shape. I can't remember off hand but there is only one wire running to each the fixtures for the bulbs right? If I can't find bulbs the same size how would I re-wire these to hold newer bulbs that come with two wires?

Under the Tyco car section # 521 coach on the HO Seeker site.

A wire from one truck goes to Ground and the wire from the other truck goes to the bulb. You can use a 2 wire bulb by connecting one of the wires to one truck and the other to ground (the metal floor) or directly to the truck that was grounded.
